Thanks to funding from BFI Film Exhibition Fund we collaborated with Dundee Contemporary Arts on a programme of screenings and events that celebrate electronic music’s female pioneers.
The programme started with a preview of Sisters with Transistors + Q&A with the film’s director, Lisa Povner.
Films also in the Re:Sisters programme included A Life In Waves, a documentary exploring Suzanne Ciani’s life and innovations; Modulations: Cinema For The Ear, a documentary from 1998 tracing the evaluation of electronic music; Raw Chicks.Berlin, eleven portraits of women music producers based in Berlin; Underplayed, a documentary inspiring more diversity in the electronic music industry, calling for greater gender, racial, and ethnic equality.
We commissioned sister duo KINTRA to open the programme with a live online DJ set as well as create a short documentary about Polka Dot Disco Club, a women only DJ collective based in Dundee.
